Week 77 – Almendroza, Chile

Hey guys,

This was a great week.

So on Wednesday, we had zone conference! It was fantastic.  President Harris gave us a capacitacion about the plan of salvation!  It was dope.  Basically, the entire time we asked questions about the plan of salvation (like personal questions, and a lot of deep doctrine) and then Pres Harris answered them using the scriptures.  I was basically taking notes the entire time!  I didn’t understand some of it, but I wrote it all down for the future. There were a lot of things that I didn’t really think about with the great plan of god, but like it says in Alma 42, I’m just gonna worry about my own sins, and repent.

My comp and I had to give a part in the zone conference, too.  I was nervous, but it went well.  I love Elder Chavez.  I like teaching with him a lot.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a ton of progress in the sector or the branch right now, but we are working hard and the Lord is giving us some tender mercies.

Yesterday was district conference of Santa Cruz. It was honestly pretty great. President Harris gave some fantastic messages. The bad thing is they shut down one of the branches of the district, and combined with our branch. We get changes this Saturday, so who knows what will happen with the elders there.

But this week is going to be great. We get changes and general conference, so I’m super pumped. Have a great week ya’ll.

Week 76 – Almendroza, Chile

This week was great.  At the feria this week (which is basically like an open market) I bought 4 fish for the equivalent of like 3 bucks, haha. It was sketch!! Then we went back to the house and I tried to make them but they were all jank and nasty!!!! I cooked them and everything but they just ended up terrible haha, like they were all rotten and what not! But it’s all good, I didn’t lose that much for it, haha.

I really love my comp. Elder Chavez is such a stud. We are working very hard, and finding a lot of people to teach! We’re just working on helping them progressing now.

I hit my last 6 months in the mish, and in our mission when that happens, they call it the “sexy seis!!!” because it’s like the time to get fit and strong for when you go home, so I’m starting that now! I am going super hard in workouts now, and I’m gonna start eating healthier. So hopefully I’ll have a little bit of muscle to come back with (…dad;)…)

Also, P-day was fun today. We climbed a big hill that was in Apalta, a neighboring town of Santa Cruz. It was insane. We basically trail blazed the whole thing!! We got destroyed by a lot of thorns and bushes, but it was a fun experience!

I read a talk from President Nelson from one of his conference talks where he says that we should study the words of Christ that are found in the scriptures, and as we do that, we will love Jesus Christ and his laws more. It really impacted me (fantastic talk by the way), so I am committing myself to that. For the rest of my mission, I want to study more about Jesus Christ, in all scriptures (The Bible, the Book of Mormon, etc.) There is like over 2200 references to Him in the scriptures, so I’m pretty sure it’ll be a big project, but I’m super excited. I love studying the scriptures.

So, in total, life is great! The mission is dope! Have a great week!

Week 75 – Almendroza, Chile

Hey everyone!

This week has been pretty dope!  On Monday, we had p-day, pretty chill.  We cleaned the house and just hung out.  I have started a binder where I print off my favorite general conference talks, things from the mission, etc.  If you guys have any suggestions, email them to me and I will check them out.

On Tuesday, we had district class.  It was so dope!  On Wednesday, we had interviews with President Harris.  He is so great!  We talked about how the zone is doing, etc.  He gave me a lot of great advice.

Thursday and Friday were all work days.  We talked to a lot of people and were able to see miracles from the Lord.

On Saturday, we had a little leadership meeting with the zone.  We just kind of talked about the plans and goals, and how the zone is doing.  Then we cleaned the church and went out and worked.

Overall, it was a great week.  The mission is so great and I am super happy!

Love,

Elder Halverson

Week 74 – Almendroza, Chile

Hello!

Monday was a fun p-day . We made completos, and then we played soccer.  I freaking love soccer!  Then I found out that Chase is going to Finland!  I literally screamed out loud in the cyber, ha ha.  I am so happy for him!

Tuesday, we had district class in the morning.  It was a really good class.  It was a day of hard work.  We were just up the main street all day talking to people to see if we could visit them.

Wednesday was a dope day!  We had intercambios.  I was with Elder Calderon.  He’s a new missionary, with only two weeks in the mish!  He is from Columbia.  We found three new investigators today!  We said a lot of prayers, and the Lord really blessed us.  Also, we visited with this Haitian member who speaks perfect Spanish.

Thursday was a great day.  We went to this beach town.  It’s the surf capital of South America.  It’s pretty touristy.  I went with Elder Garcia.  We had a good day of work.  We talked with a lot of people and found a couple of new investigators.  Also, when we were walking, I saw my favorite brand of MATE! (still drinking it, lol) so I picked some up.

Friday was dope.  We had lunch and then came back to get the kit for the capilla abierta.  Not too much time to contact, but we visited some future investigators, and found some news.  (Side note:  It’s been a frickin’ dope week for news!)

Saturday was okay.  Basically, all day, like from 10 to 4, we were in the cyber organizing the references for the zone, uploading them to lds.org, sending them to the mission, etc.  Then after that, we did like a church tour where we invited people to come.  The branch is pretty small, and hardly any members or visitors came, but it was fun.

Things are great!  Love you guys!
